Whether it is Pink Palace or a green Palace, we must understand that the once Ahsanmanzil Palace is not a palace anymore but a Museum belonging to the Bangladesh Government and the state. We lived in Ahsanmanzil during its heydays and remember how it stood overlooking the river Buriganga and the many garden parties that was held there during the time when Uncle Nazimuddin was Governor General of Pakistan and it looked like the residence of the Nawabs of Dhaka. This building with all the lands around it was acquired by the Bangladesh Government for the state without consulting the main proprietors of the Nawab Family the actual owners of Ahsanmanzil. It is very sad that Ahsanmanzil was the last bastion of the Nawab family and that too we lost. Allah gave plenty to our family money , positon, power etc but we could not keep them, I am sorry to have to admit that we are the ones to blame because our family was not united and we trusted the Manager of our estate too much without wanting to know what he and his croonies were doing with our property.
When I go to Dhaka I cannot bear to go and look at Ahsanmanzil, when I did visit it once it looked to me like a sad old building which had lost its family.
