National Awami Party (NAP) & the Nawab Family
Thanks,
Anas Khwaja
National Awami Party From the mid-1950s the Awami League suffered a growing conflict between two of its leaders, HS Suhrawardy and Abdul Hamid Khan Bhasani around the issues of foreign policy and regional autonomy. Bhasani, a populist leader of great influence among the peasants and workers, opposed HS Suhrawardy for his pro-American foreign policy and his lack of support to the autonomy of East Bengal. This eventually led to a split within the Awami League when Bhasani in a convention held in Dhaka on 25-26 July 1957, floated the National Awami Party (NAP) with the support of the left-leaning leaders and workers of the AL. Bhasani was elected the president of the new party. Within a short time after its formation and then after its revival in March 1964, NAP emerged as an important left party of the country.
The party, however, fragmented into the NAP (Bhasani) and the pro-Moscow NAP (Wali) in 1967 following the Sino-Soviet conflict. The pro-Chinese party led by Maulana Bhasani had its major support in former East Pakistan, while the pro-Moscow NAP was strong in former West Pakistan. Maulana Bhasani remained a popular leader and his party played an important role in the mass movement of 1969. It was the first party to oppose the Awami League in 1972. But by 1988, the party split into as many as 13 separate parties and factions. The pro-Moscow NAP also underwent a similar process of fragmentation during the 1970s and 1980s

Dhaka Nawab Family "B" Estate: A failure
You all are aware that the present Committee of Dhaka Nawab Family "B" Estate is basically " NAAM KAY WASTA" their only job to my best of knowledge is to arrange payment during EID or arrange charity for the purpose of treatment (only to those who are faithful to the President of the committee).
The only effective committee was during tenure of Reaz Salim I once tried to break up the monopoly of Begum Wasiuddin as president of Dhaka Nawab Family "B" Estate , the method I used might not have been right, but at least I tried to bring some of our family members to sit for a meeting in Twin House and as a conclusion a present committee was formed.
We ( I ) expected that this new committee might do some good for the welfare of the DNF, but as the story goes on only thing was the same old wine in a different new bottle.
I request all family member to come up and form a new committee , an effective committee which will work for the welfare of the DNF and committee who will be bound to give a report to all members (every three month) on the developments related to welfare of the DNF. A committee to be formed who are at present staying in Bangladesh and a second sub Committee like Dhaka Nawab Family "B" Estate (Americas-Europe-and other region) who will monitor the developments on behalf of DNF member living abroad.
Further, I would request , Please elect a member, who you think will be able to work for the DNF. Please do comments on the proposal. Regards.

Khas land worth Tk1,476 cr recovered
http://www.bangladeshobserveronline.com/new/2005/12/08/economic.htm
A total of 2,528.60 acres of khas land valued about Taka 1,476.03 crore were recovered from the land grabbers across the country from January to October this year, reports BSS.
This was stated at a meeting of the parliamentary standing committee on the ministry of land on Tuesday in the cabinet room of the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban. Chairman of the committee Advocate Mahbubur Rahman presided over it.
The meeting reviewed the progress of the khas land reclaim committee formed to monitor the activities related to allegations on khas land grabbing. The committee was constituted in February, 2004, with the cabinet secretary its head.
The parliamentary committee suggested forming a committee headed by the secretary of the ministry of land. It will conduct a feasibility study for establishing five new townships in Gazipur and Narayanganj.
The meeting also decided to visit Bhasantek in the city where a project is being implemented to rehabilitate the destitute and lower middle class people.
It discussed the genuine use of the one-year lease agreement and the lease of property of the Court of Awards and the Nawab Estate of Dhaka.
The meeting emphasised the need for proper measures for recording the property of the Nawab Estate, which are being revealed by the current survey, and solution to the issues, which are now under trial.
Members of the committee deputy minister for land advocate Ruhul Kuddus Talukdar Dulu, Enamul Haque, advocate Promod Mankin and Mohammad Ali Kadr participated in the discussion while State Minister for Land Ukil Abdus Sattar attended it on special invitation.
Secretary of the land ministry, chairman of the land reform board, chairman of BRTA, Deputy Commissioner of Dhaka and other high officials were also present.
Dear members of Dhaka Nawab Family "B" Estate and Moulvi Abdullah Welfare Trust could you please shed some light on the above article and how it affects us as DNF members...
Your comments will be useful for all the DNF members.

NB owned Business
Is it possible for us to list all the businesses owned Worldwide by DNF members in any section? This will be a way to help each other out.
For example if someone owns a travel agency in NY . We will be buying ticket from them instead of from anywhere else. We can also promote his business to our neighbour, friends, coworkers etc.
Like the Patels or Jews, we should help each other out at every possible steps.
